Chimney fires account for 75% of home heating fires according to Property Casualty 360. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s report states that there were an estimated 22,300 fireplace and chimney fires annually from 2012-2014. These fires resulted in approximately 20 deaths, 60 nonfatal injuries, and $116.4 million in damages annually over that time.
